We just finished 2 days of classes using Judy Niemeyer Patterns. 9 ladies started making their latest masterpieces.

Summer is here

The end of June.  A time for family camping and relaxation.  Ardelle will be at the lake near Camrose for most of next week, including Canada day.  Things slow down at the store while quilters relax, enjoy the summer weather, visit family and friend.
Here at Quilting From the Heart, we slow down for summer too.  In July and August we have fewer events at the store.  Only our Sampler Series - Patchwork Party II, Christmas in July on July 30, and our three weeks of classes featuring the patterns of Judy Niemeyer Quilting. Call the store for more information on both the Christmas in July day and the Judy Niemeyer classes.

Silk Beautiful, Shiny Silk

We just got in four different kits made of silk.  Each kit has the silk to make to top of a quilt, or embellish many quilts.  The kits are.

New Atkinson Design Items

We finally got our new pattens from Atkinson Designs. They are:

Zippy Strippy - Start collecting buttons, rick-rack, and other fun trims for these easy quilt-as-you-go bags. Great project for using leftover strips, and it works well with new fabric too!

Cash and Carry - Corral your cash, cards, and coins in an easy zipper pouch. Make one to keep and one to give away. Use Terry's easy zipper method and you'll agree that zippers are no big deal!

Pocket to Go - Use this handy organizer next to your sewing machine, on your desk, or in the bathroom to keep everything at your fingertips. Pop the long size into a purse or tote and you're ready to go!

We also brought in a collection of 14" zippers in 36 colours. Just cut them to the length you need.

 We have made this kit using the Evening Mist collection from Sentimental Studios by Moda and using Kaufman and Hoffman Batiks.

   We made the Aspen quilt using Tuscan Wildflowers from Peggy Toole for Kaufman.

Mod Quads by Blue Underground Studio

We used Hoffman, Kaufman and Princess Mirah Batiks.

August Judy Nieimeyer Classes

We are going to be offering additional classes teaching the foundation piecing techniques of Judy Niemeyer.  The classes will be as follows.

August 17 - 21 - Amazon Star, Prairie Star, Dragon Star and Bali Wedding Ring.or other complicated quilts

August 24 - 26 - Desert Sky, Thistle Pods,  Christmas Celebrations - any other quilt of medium difficulty.

August 27 - 28 - Stepping Stones, Water Fall, Woven Blanket or other easy quilts.

Class Fee - $50/day

Come into our comfortable, air-conditioned classroom and make a wonderful new quilt.

Classes will run for 9:30 - 4:30 Daily with 1 hour for lunch.

Patterns and Books from Market - Part One

   I was away last week.  I went to Vancouver with the Camrose Composite High School band, on their exchange with Seaquam Secondary School in Delta.  97 band members and 9 chaperones spent 6 days travelling on two buses.

While I was gone the we received several new books and patterns that we selected at market.
